Dress Yourself Monday:  De-Coding The Dress Code

Dress up themes are sometimes a part of girlfriend getaways, bachelorette parties, wedding or baby showers, or just a regular old backyard party. If you've ever been confounded by a dress code, you will relate to this.

I was recently invited to a party where the theme was "Tiki Glam".

Oh, you know it's going to happen (again). You will be out with the girls - whether celebrating a bachelorette party, or someone's landmark birthday - and you will suddenly find yourself at one of those bars or clubs that offers up a bar, or some elevated platform, or table for you to dance on. We're here to make sure you're properly attired just in case.

We asked, and you answered! Many of you had been to some fairly standard bachelorette/hen parties, and there were others who stepped it up a bit with some very original plans. These are the top 10 responses we found, with some unique ideas we'll be borrowing!

We did a little survey, and we have some information for you about the state of bachelorette parties today. You may never have another chance to use that penis straw, and that's probably a good thing.

It's not just for strippers anymore. Pole dancing is becoming more and more popular as a fun way to exercise, and hang (literally) with your girlfriends. Lucite heels and nipple tassels not required.

"Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue." Why blue? Why not yellow? Why not pink? What is so wrong with aubergine? OH the other colors must feel slighted. But blue it must be - you know, it's tradition and such.

We have a list of the Top 10 "Something Blue"s for the bridesmaids to offer the bride. We're such conformists.

San Francisco Getaway

Oh how we adore the City by the Bay!  Those hilly streets, those clanky cable cars, and Ghiradelli's chocolates.  San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and offers almost TOO much to do.  World class cuisine, avant garde museums, funky neighborhoods, and get to Alcatraz while you still can (they're considering doing away with the historical landmark).

Vail Ski Getaway

Take a deep breath.  Then wait a few moments before you try to exert yourself.  Unless you're living at elevation, Vail will take a few hours to adjust to.  The picturesque ski town sits at 8120.  But the adjusting is absolutely worth it, as Vail is an unbelievable ski destination.
