Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Kim Kardashian |
We have been dragging our feet and lollygagging, in an effort NOT to keep up with the Kardashians, but it's no use. They're on E! every hour, on the hour, and cannot be avoided.
And speaking of "avoided", what should always be avoided is the baseball cap/giant hoop earring combination. I used to wear this in the early 90s, and I'm pretty sure it didn't even look good then.

Much as it pains me to feature Ms. Kardashian in our little weekly travel fashion forum, as she is more of a celebutante than celebrity, she is photographed ad nauseum. And she is at an airport. And we are talking "travel ensembles" here.
Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Jessica Alba |
Jessica Alba is in the new Mike Myers' movie "The Love Guru", which we have not heard good things about...yet... We want it to be good! The premise is so funny! Okay, but back to Jessica Alba.
She did admit, on the Ellen Show, that in real life she was pretty slobby, but this airport ensemble doesn't look all that bad. See? It's always a good idea to be up-front about potential slobbiness, so that anything other than said slobbiness looks like you're a fashion superstar.

So, she is wearing some leggings - normally kind of scary, but she has paired them with a sassy striped, appropriately-lengthed tunic that renders the leggings bearable, rather than obscene. She will definitely be comfy on the flight. The coat is nice, and that giant chocolate-brown leather bag, paired with her sunglasses subtlely whispers "I'm famous and have money".
Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Fergie |
Fergie is a survivor. We love that. She's sassy, spunky, and being a part of the Black-Eyed Peas gives her some serious street cred. Not to mention, one of her songs is featured in the "Sex & the City" movie. We will stop talking about that eventually.
This girl picked herself up, dusted off the meth, and started all over again. Starting all over again sounds awesome, especially if it involves getting engaged to Josh Duhamel, having a successful music career, and being tapped for handbag endorsements.

Now THAT is a handbag. You could fit half a dead body in there! Theoretically. We love how the bag matches the little booties - even though we know you don't need to match your shoes and your handbags, thanks Clinton & Stacy. I can't tell if she's even wearing anything underneath the cute black jacket, but for some reason, with the tights and booties in the same color, I don't think it looks indecent. Sunglasses for deflecting paparazzi flashes = good. Vibrant scarf for entertaining splash of color and for warding off the airplane-air chill = good.
Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Lindsay Lohan |
This is going to feel a little "Mean Girls" (which we loved, by the way), but when you get a closer look at the photo, you'll understand.

Where to start? So, you're going to the airport...and... Um....well, the bags are good. Both look functional, and the larger one would be the first place I would tuck that headband, those shoes, those leggings and that t-shirt. Out of sight. Zipped up inside the bag.
I would then take the bag to an airport locker, lock it up and throw the key into the closest body of water.
This entire look hurts my eyes, and I am not lucky enough to be sporting dark sunglasses to lessen the pain. Lindsay Lohan is such a beautiful girl, and while her hair appears clean, and it looks like she has a fresh manicure, the clothes relegate her to the hippie-hip-hop-bag-lady category.
She may be all alone in that category, which would be just fine.
Possible pro: the shoelaces have been loosened, to facilitate swiftness in the security line. Other than that, no further thought has been given to this airport ensemble.
Grade:

Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Jennifer Hudson |
That Jennifer Hudson was most definitely born under a lucky star with winning a role in the blockbuster hit "Dreamgirls", then winning an Oscar for that role, and NOW she gets to be in the "Sex & the City" movie? We're envious.
Envious, but still...

Would we wear this to travel?
Shoes? Great. Shiny for fun, flat for function. Great.
Hairdo? Very cute. Spunky -curly, yet not curly-crazy.
And then there's the stuff in the middle.
Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Charlotte York Goldenblatt |
Everyone's favorite Pollyanna, can be counted on to show up in pink or ivory on most occasions. In earlier seasons, however, they gave her a slightly wider berth with her wardrobe options:

An early look of Charlotte's, that doesn't reflect her utter girlie-ness, but is quite appropriate for travel. Comfortable jeans and top, comfortable flat shoes, and very-obviously Burberry trenchcoat.
But I'd rather see her at the airport wearing something a little more "Charlotte", like this:

This also, coincidentally, goes along with our Wedding Season kick-off week. Thanks Char!
Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Carrie Bradshaw |
We are still featuring one SATC character each Wednesday this month, in an outfit in which they would probably travel. Carrie Bradshaw, you're up!
Carrie is arguably the most daring, fashionwise, of the Fab Four. Mixing and matching florals and plaids and furs, and wearing two different shoes (on the L.A. trip episode), so you could really expect to see her at the airport in anything.
This outfit is adorably smart, includes a solid, decent-sized handbag (and if that is croc or alligator, it's probably worth a couple of First Class Around-the-World tickets). We are big fans of the travel-hat, because sometimes we nap on flights. The colors are all neutral and go well together.

But wouldn't it be so much more fun to see her at the airport wearing this:

Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Miranda Hobbes |
In honor of the upcoming behemoth "Sex & the City" movie, I would like to dedicate "Wear It To Travel Wednesday" to the Fab Four (Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha), and do a slightly different spin on the usual.
We will feature one SATC character each Wednesday this month, in an outfit in which they would probably travel.Miranda is a no-nonsense character, and this is typically reflected in her clothing on the show.

Photo: HBO
I, for one, was relieved when they finally gave Miranda a cute hairdo and some decent outfits. This is a great neutral shift dress, which matches her purse. Her tote remarkably matches her hair, and that is tough to do. Add a jacket and she's good to go.
During an earlier season, the costume designers decided to send her out in public in this:

Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Samantha Jones |
In honor of the upcoming behemoth "Sex & the City" movie, I would like to dedicate "Wear It To Travel Wednesday" to the Fab Four (Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha), and do a slightly different spin on the usual.
We will feature one SATC character each Wednesday this month, in an outfit in which they would probably travel.
Samantha could easily arrive in most cities in this ensemble:

Which she was wearing while role-playing with her new boyfriend, but with the neutral-but-chic black trenchcoat, beret and black tote, she is ready to jet-set.
Although we'd rather see her at the airport wearing this:

Wear-It-To-Travel Wednesday - Hayden Panettiere |
You've probably seen Hayden as The Cheerleader on "Heroes", and may have recognized that she has played someone's little sister, or daughter in a smattering of films (Raising Helen, Remember the Titans), but did you know she was also in something called "Robot Chicken"?
"Edgy" is not a word I would typically associate with the diminutive blond cutie, but with "Robot Chicken" and this outfit, I'm reassessing.

Photo: queenoftheposhandbroke.blogspot.com
I'm not entirely convinced that she is actually wearing this to travel, but the blog site where I found the photo claims she is at the airport, and that works for this feature.
The look is a little confusing at first sight, as the gorgeous trench indicates a slight chill in the air. The flip flops say "Whatevs! It's 95!". I think her feet are cold, and I want to put some cute flats on her.
On the other hand, she may just have gotten a pedicure.
It is sunny outside, so the quirky Wayfarer sunglasses are required. Plus, all the cool kids are wearing them. She will also probably need them to deflect the paparazzi flashbulbs once she enters the terminal.
That purple bag is to die for, and will definitely be a great carry-on and accommodate the flip flops, once her toenails have dried, water bottle, book, magazine, her boarding pass, and some snacks.
